Pole

My pole journey started in 2015. Carolyn Cowan, my girlfriend and I, did a few sessions at Cherry Blossom Studio when it was on Cyrville. Cherry Blossom later moved to St. Laurent and also got rebranded as Ottawa Pole Fitness Academy - East.
I originally saw my other girlfriend Breanna Clancy dancing on a pole in heels in a Facebook video. This is how I found out what pole was. She was in Toronto at the time. I was like, “what is this?” stumbling upon her fascinating video. I decided to look up pole studios in Ottawa. I convinced Cowan to come with me.
I ended up moving from Ottawa to Toronto in March 2016. I write about that here.
I first met Cat Zadeh, who is the owner of Pole Fitness Academy, when I signed up for one of her classes while I was living in Toronto. She travels to teach dance.
The studio in Toronto was named Brass Vixens. I taught myself to dance there. I had lots of amazing teachers. I came back to Ottawa and continued to dance at PFA.
It’s been 10 years. Dancing taught me about self-expression, movement and flow. I was born to dance. I love it. My pole is my best friend. For anyone looking to get into pole, I highly recommend it.
